Finding the best online travel deals requires a bit of basic information about how each travel segment works, they do not all work the same when it comes to the best strategy for paying a lower rate. The tips listed below are tried and true and are a few of many, but we will start here and in future articles, I will address others.

We begin with AIRLINES. I travel most every week and have learned the following basics for a better fare.

1. Fly Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday when possible, best chance of getting a Cheap fare.

2. Book early ( you have heard this one before, no rocket science here and it is still true) but there is a twist, watch carefully for special very big sales to your favorite destination, they are often brought on by a new airline being approved for a route where an established carrier has an established market share and wants to protect it. So, fantastic fares are often available from both the established carrier and the new entrant into the market. Watch carefully, book early and buy more than one trip if you go there often

Two examples:

The Miami to St Thomas USVI market had round trip fares available for $78 plus tax/fee's, these fares were only available for purchase for a about 14 days in June, but were good for travel Through Mid November.

The Miami to San Jose Costa Rica Market had round trip fares of $98 plus tax/fee's available during the same time period as mentioned above.
